Fresh Facts on Water Purification
Consuming water is an important part of our daily lives, considering it makes up about 70 percent of our body weight. While it is reported that a healthy person can live without food for weeks, a person can only survive a few days without water.
The United States offers its citizens one of the safest water supplies in the world. Even so, many consumers are using home purification systems to help ensure the best tasting and safest water for drinking and cooking. In addition, others are consuming bottled water for reasons of both convenience and safety.
Given the dozens of water purification options available to consumers, it can be difficult to determine exactly which system is right for your needs. In this “Let’s Clear the Water” section, you can examine many of the options currently available, including InSinkErator water filters that offer added assurance that your drinking water will smell and taste fresh. |
|
The InSinkErator filtration system is for use with the Series 2200 and Series 1100 instant hot water dispensers and may be added on to other water dispenser systems. The dispenser serves as a complement to a users’ existing faucet and sits on top of the sink. The rest of the system remains out of sight, beneath the sink.
The F-201 water filter reduces sediment and chlorine taste and odor to yield a clean, refreshing taste for all your beverages and recipes. In addition, the F-601R filter also reduces lead, mercury, asbestos, dangerous parasites like Cryptosporidium and Giardia, and toxic chemicals. InSinkerator FIltering Product Facts: Benefits & Performance
InSinkErator’s under-counter filtration system enables consumers to forgo plastic water bottles and rely on tap water to be the primary source for drinking, cooking and preparing hot beverages. InSinkErator’s two filter models allow consumers to obtain instant hot (200 degree) filtered water and filtered drinking water directly from the tap.
- The InSinkErator filtration system uses carbon-based cartridges, which absorb impurities as the water passes through to provide fresher tasting water.
- Up to 95 percent of inline water filtration systems that are installed in homes use carbon-based cartridges.
- These filtration systems, unlike reverse osmosis or distillation, allow water’s fluoride and other natural minerals to pass through. These minerals are essential to good health and aid the body’s absorption of water.
- The addition of an optional chilled water tank – to be released in fall 2008 – will allow consumers to dispense cold, 38 degree filtered water directly at the sink.
Cost-effective Filtration Solution
In addition to style and convenience, an InSinkErator filtration system is also a cost-effective alternative to bottled water. Existing instant hot water dispenser owners can maintain their filtration system by purchasing replacement filters for less than $100 per year, as opposed to spending an average of more than $400 per year on bottled water.
Environmental Advantages
Today, many environmental enthusiasts say the packaging and shipping associated with bottled water that uses fossil fuels has a negative environmental impact. According to published reports, of the billions of water bottles Americans purchase each year about 80 percent end up in landfills. Unfortunately, buried water bottles can take hundreds of years to biodegrade. With an InSinkErator water dispenser, the need for bottled water becomes obsolete, as it delivers filtered drinking water directly from the tap.
